AN amateur film-maker from Worcester is celebrating winning a bronze award in a German film festival.
Kay Bamford-Burnell, of Zermatt Close, Northwick, entered a 10-minute film in the Euro Film Festival entitled Galapagos Wildlife.
She filmed ten hours of footage while she and her late husband Ken Burnell were in the Galapagos Islands celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
When she returned home, she spent between 500 and 1,000 hours editing it.
"I made the film in memory of Ken, who died in March, so it was especially poignant when I won the bronze award," the 69-year-old said.
Mrs Bamford-Burnell, who is set to become chairman of the Midlands branch of the International Amateur Association next year, has been making her own films since 1998 after she was forced to give up her other hobbies of water-skiing and windsurfing when she was diagnosed with skin cancer.
She has proved she is a natural behind the camera by winning 23 international awards in that time. Mrs Bamford-Burnell also makes films for charity.
Her next filming trip will be to Antarctica in February.
