A DEVOTED fund-raiser has helped raise more than £143,000 for a cancer appeal.
Dorothy Ludlow, from Eckington, near Pershore, and her team of dedicated helpers did not let the rain put them off during their latest charity sale for the Cobalt Appeal Fund Crack Cancer Campaign.
The team sold clothes, toys, shoes and bric-a-brac to bargain hunters to raise £2,577 for the Cheltenham-based unit.
The 69-year-old, who lost her husband, Brian in 1988 to cancer, became a fund-raiser when two relatives also became ill with the disease.
"It's been my life for 28 years," she said.
Fellow fund-raiser Zena Giles said that the event, which was held on Saturday, October 8, at Eckington Village Hall, had proved a huge success.
"Together all the fund-raisers do such a fantastic job," she said.
"These are some very special and dedicated people and we are so grateful to them all, but especially to Dorothy for pulling each sale together."
