TWO members of Stourport UK Kickboxing Club impressed at the Annual Grappling Championships at Worcester.
In his first adult competition since turning 18, James Bingham, who fights at Under-65kg, had a bye in the first round and choked out his second and third opponents.
In the next fight, Bingham was taken to a tie-breaker, but took control on the floor with cross body work, which took him to the battle for gold and silver.
Again he fought well, until the dying seconds when his opponent took control and tapped Bingham, so he took silver.
Jason Foster also gave a good account of himself in his first ever grappling event.
Fighting in the Under-70kg category, he came up against a far more experienced rival Richard Davies.
And though Foster held on until the last 30 seconds of the third round, Davies took him to the floor with a single leg take-down, then tapped him out with a choke.
