CLEOBURY Mortimer Ladies lost out to undefeated Leeds at home on Sunday in what unexpectedly turned into a five set thriller in Division Two of the National Volleyball League.
In a topsy turvy clash the lead changed hands several times, but ultimately the Yorkshire side were just too strong and triumphed 3-2.
Clare Jones was the player of the day for Cleobury who were hit by an ankle injury to skipper Ellie White.
Set scores: 25-22, 13-25, 22-25, 27-25, 13-15.
There was also defeat for the men who went down 3-1 at home to Persian Phoenix in Midlands Men's Volleyball League Division One.
Cleobury, who were without Paul Giest and Carl Brookes, lost the first two sets and although they clinched the third, Phoenix rose again to take the fourth.
Their player of the day was Mark Fish.
Set scores: 17-25, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25.
