A WOMAN'S handbag was stolen from her car as she popped into a shop in Bewdley.

The victim parked her blue BMW convertible outside the Co-op in Load Street at about 5.30pm on Wednesday last week.

She took her purse from the bag and went into the store. Returning two or three minutes later, she realised the handbag had been taken.

The brown River Island bag, with dusky pink and gold trim, contained cash, bank books and a diary.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area to give us a call if they noticed this car and saw anyone near it."
