BEWDLEY Town boss Craig Payton believes his West Midlands League Premier Division team have set the standard for the rest of the season after blasting in 11 goals in two games.
Payton's men followed up a convincing 5-0 midweek victory over Dudley Town by storming to a stunning 7-0 success at Smethwick on Saturday.
"It has been difficult the past couple of weeks as vital team players have been unavailable due to injuries and suspension," he said.
"With the return of those players this week, we played football to our normal standard and dominated play creating chance after chance.
"What was really sweet was that we didn't concede.
"Every team goes through a bad patch, let's hope that's ours done and we can continue with the form we gave this week."
Lewis Pountney gave Bewdley a first half lead against Dudley and when the visitors had a defender sent off for contesting a penalty, Steve Holt converted the spot kick before the floodgates opened.
From then on Bewdley dominated the 10 men Dudley team and saw further goals from Jamie Hart and a club first for new boy Graham Abriss. (plus one other scorer?)
The Walshes Meadow tenants kept their scoring boots on when they travelled to struggling Smethwick at the weekend.
Having only scraped a draw against the same opponents a week earlier, Bewdley had a point to prove.
And they did just that with Chris Hough (2), L Pountney, Hart, Sam Pountney, Gavin Smith and Holt also notching during a scorching win.
Hart and L Pountney now have 11 goals each and will be gunning for more when sixth-placed Bewdley visit Bromyard at 2.45pm on Saturday.
Bewdley Town Reserves beat Mahal 3-1 in West Midlands League Division Two thanks to goals for captain Neil Osbourn, Richard Sanders and Andy Hipkins.
Osbourn opened the scoring, the second came off the head Dan Franklin, with a pinpoint cross from Sanders.
Bewdley dominated the rest of the half and went into the break 2-0 up.
Ex-Cheltenham play-maker Ian Thomas was brought on for Bewdley after the interval, and Hipkins added the third when he latched onto a through-ball and slotted home from 18 yards. Mahal got a consolation goal when they caught Bewdley on the break.
Manager Richard Downey said: "This was an all round good performance. With the introduction of some new players to help our younger player we are moving in the right direction.
"Taking into account this is a totally new outfit I am pleased with the way things are going and it's great being involved with a club like Bewdley".
