THE people of the Vale have been offered the chance to have their say on how the area will be policed.
West Mercia Police Authority is examining options for the force's future and has asked the public for their suggestions.
The authority, which polices three counties, including Worcestershire, and is one of the largest of the 43 forces in England and Wales, has launched an online survey at www.westmerciapoliceauthority.gov.uk.
People are asked to consider the force's two short-listed options; retaining the West Mercia force with increased investment or a new strategic regional force combining West Mercia with three other existing forces, in Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands.
The survey also lists seven other options discounted by the force and asks people if they have any better suggestions which have not been considered.
A series of public meetings across the authority area are being held this month but Evesham residents will miss out because the Evesham and District Police Community Consultative Group has already met.
The authority is also approaching organisations like Wychavon District Council, community safety partnerships, Criminal Justice Board members, emergency services, Neighbourhood Watch associations, Crimestoppers and business and community groups.
Councillors from Wychavon and Worcestershire's other district councils have been invited to a meeting with the authority next Thursday.
West Mercia spokesman Carl Baldacchino said there was no preference on the part of the force towards either short-listed option.
"We're looking at all the options, including suggestions we may not have considered," he said.
