CLEOBURY Mort-imer re-wrote the club's record book by storming into round four of the Powergen Junior Vase for the first time in their history with a 34-0 win over Trinity Guild.

The furthest the Love Lane men have progressed in the competition before is the third round when they were knocked out by Bromsgrove in October 2000.

But Cleobury went one better this time around, running in six tries to see off their Coventry opponents.

Pure determination, a superb lineout and an effective scrum set up a superb first half performance that set the seal on the game with a 24-point haul.

Similar moves produced the first two tries with John Hulland claiming a brace after the ball was twice worked to the left following a lineout and a maul.

Allan Shields converted both and with Colin Todd and Paul Burrows crossing soon after, Cleobury established a convincing 24-0 half-time lead.

Despite the withdrawal of No 8 Paul Hulland through injury, it was the same story after the break as the Mortimer men continued tio dominate.

His replacement Pete Howman made an impressive impact and extended their advantage with a try, before James Manley completed the scoring by taking one of several opportunties.
