KIDDERMINSTER Carolians return to Midlands Three West North action at Lichfield on Saturday - buoyed by a confidence-boosting 62-0 friendly win over Dudley Kingswinford seconds.
KCs are still looking for their first league points after seven successive setbacks - but their biggest winning margin for years will have done them the world of good.
They ran in 10 tries to completely dominate depleted Dudley and had already opened up a convincing lead by hal-time.
Eddie Ross claimed a first half hat-trick and Russ Slater bagged a brace before the break with Andy Stooksbury kicking four conversions.
And despite playing against the wind at the interval, KCs continued to score at will with tries from Mark James, Nathan Small, Dan Quinn, Olly Toms and Tom Scandrett who also kicked a conversion along with Stooksbury.
Player coach Stooksbury said: "It was an excellent boost to morale with some important fixtures to come in the next month."
The clash at promotion-chasing Lichfield kicks off at 2.30pm.
KC's seconds suffered a narrow 20-17 defeat at home to Redditch despite a brave second half fightback on a poor pitch.
Trailing 15-0 at the break they rallied with tries from Al Carpenter, Dan Lowe and Ben Stirling and a Ben Mannion conversion.
But it was not enough and there disappointment was compounded by the disclocated hand which forced Ken Bickley off after 20 minutes.
There was more to celebrate for KC's thirds who ran in six tries to see off a younger Redditch team 36-14.
