FIVE Kidderminster Carolians youngsters hope to do the Marlpool Lane club proud when they represent two county sides.

Alex Hopkirk, Scott Mundie and Josh Bennett have been called up for the Worcestershire under-14s, while Tom Leach and Mike Morris will represent Shropshire.

Spokesman Chris Hopkirk said: "Obviously having so many boys representing both counties is a great honour for the club and shows what great strength in depth we have."

KC's under-10s were the hosts with the most when they impressed on an off the pitch at the North Mids Festival.

The team were losing finalists against Whitchurch in the Plate final, while everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

In the main Shield competition, Bredon beat Birmingham and Solihull in the final.

Two defeats saw the under-sevens finish last in a mini-triangular tournament involving Malvern and Hereford Greyhounds. They went down 25-15 to hosts Malvern and 15-10 to Hereford.

In the two games, Alexander Renton was the star with four tries, while Tom Dalton also scored.

There was a win and a draw for the under-eights in two-highscoring matches with Malvern.

Elliot Murphy scored seven second half tries as they won one game 60-55, with the other finishing 50-50.

KCs showed a fine team spirit to brave torrential rain and beat Malvern 25-5 and 30-20.

Scorers: Evan Jones 5, Megan Garbitt 2, Joshua Brown 1, Tom Roberts 1, Joshua Tristram 1, Connor Ward 1.

The under-11s also failed to let downpours deter them as they secured 22-10 and 10-7 victories over Malvern .

The interplay between the backs anf the forwards and fine passing was seen as the main reason for the wins.

Chaddesley Corbett under-10s were also in winning form with 25-0 and 30-0 successes over Alcester.

Louis Ellesmore and Zach Walker got two each with Alex Lloyd also on target.

In the second match, Ross Westwood was a hat-trick hero while Walker, Sam Needham and George Morgan also crossed.
