THE Wyre Forest and District Group held its annual dinner at The Granary, Shenstone, on the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The dinner was a fund-raising event in support of the Trust's Neptune Coastline campaign, launched in 1965. Now more than 700 miles of the coastline around England, Wales and Northern Ireland is protected. A total of £471 was raised for the campaign, and as chairman Chris Fonteyn formerly worked at Barclays, under the Barclays employee volunteering programme, the bank will match this sum.
The guest speaker was Colin Bowden, an ex Royal Marine who served on the Royal Yacht Britannia, talking about "Hearts of Oak and Nelson's Navy".
Mr Bowden's audio-visual presentation told of Nelson's career and his naval triumphs.
