SIR - During the recent half term school holidays, my wife and I took our two grandchildren to a local cinema. As was expected, the cinema was full, mostly with young children accompanied by adults.
On leaving from the top row of seats, we were appalled by the state of the now empty room. It was as though an army had rampaged through, intent on leaving as much rubbish as possible on seats and floors.
It so saddens me to realise that the vast majority of youngsters and their carers, who should know better, are allowed to create such havoc with a complete disregard for the environment and the staff who have to clean up this unnecessary mess.
It seems another confirmation of the way society is heading. Were we the only ones who carefully saved our two chocolate wrappers for the bins on exit?
