SIR - John Phillpott says don't waste our cash on rubbish (Seven Days, Saturday, October 29). I could not agree more with him.
On one hand, the city council says it can no longer afford to collect our domestic refuse once a week, and on the other, they spend £109,832 on a machine to clean up gum which they admit will only take one morning to clean the High Street.
Could they not hire this machine as and when required? And for once I agree with George Cowley, what a waste of time - six members of the council trying the wheeled bins.
Why not have six terraced houses with no front to rear access? Or are they frightened of the results? With the cost of council tax rising all the time, shouldn't we all demand more for our money?
S GURNEY,
Worcester.
