A NETWORKING opportunity for managers and business owners to entertain customers has helped raise cash for Worcester Cathedral.

Supper After Business generated funds for a £5m fund-raising campaign to develop and sustain voices and music in the Cathedral.

The organist and choristers welcomed guests to the event with a wine reception in the cathedral, which was followed by supper in College Hall.

Guest speaker for the night was Sir Digby Jones, director general of the Confederation Of British Industry, and there was a musical finale.

Sir Digby said: "It is so easy to take the magnificent Cathedral that dominates our city for granted - and think its future is safe in someone else's hands. But really, it belongs to each of us who works and lives in Worcester.

"We are actively seeking support from local businesses for this appeal."

Funding is needed to replace two organs, support the choristers and install lighting.
