Bromsgrove 0,

Evesham Ladies 2

ON A wet and windy Satur-day morning Evesham produced their best form of the season.

Right from the start they played confident, tactical hockey and good accurate passing resulted in lots of possession as the visitors easily played the ball around their opposing players.

Good skills down both wings resulted in several attacking opportunities but the Broms-grove goalkeeper produced some good saves.

The hosts also had their chances in the first half and were awarded several short corners, however Evesham's defence remained solid.

Spurred on by their first half performance, the visitors started the second half in determined fashion and, playing a much tighter game, they denied Bromsgrove any space and time on the ball.

Evesham's patience was fin-ally rewarded when a good attacking move saw Karen Robinson shoot the ball between the keeper's legs to open the scoring.

Bromsgrove rarely looked like replying and, when they did threaten, Evesham's def-ence proved to be too strong.

With the extra fitness training paying off, Evesham continued to dominate and remained strong to the end with captain Vanessa Dufty securing the win when she fired the ball into the top corner.

Alice Cooke was voted player of the match for a solid midfield performance and the ball was sponsored by Goodflex Rubber.

Having only lost once this season, Evesham are now lying second in Worcestershire League Division Two and will be hoping to maintain their winning form against local rivals Badsey this weekend.
