Evesham II 5, Old Wulfs II 3
SATURDAY'S West Midlands Division One league clash started evenly but the visiting front line caused Roger Hemming, Rich Haines and Matt Haines plenty of problems.
Wulfs went ahead from a short corner then soon doubled the lead with an unsto-ppable shot. Evesham's task became even harder when a deft flick to the centre forward left him one on one with keeper Marcus Humpston who was beaten for a third time.
Evesham never let their heads drop and pulled themselves back into the game when Stu Bearcroft netted.
The midfield then took control for the last ten minutes of the half and Dave Tur-ner's pinpoint cross was converted by John Grumble.
Evesham continued in the ascendancy into the second half but Andy Mabbett and Daryl Drinkwater missed chances. However, a powerful run down the right by Mark Dufty saw him take the ball into the D to win a short corner that Paul Miller converted with a clean strike.
With time running out it looked as if Evesham had spent all their energy to draw the game back to level but Rob Leighton stole possession in midfield and slipped the ball to captain Paul Miller.
He beat two players and struck the ball into the net to give his side the lead before completing a fabulous comeback with his side's fifth goal.
Evesham will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run at North Staffs on Saturday.
