BATTLING Sean Flynn looks to have played his final game for Redditch United.

And former skipper Matt Clarke could also be on his way leaving Valley Stadium boss Rod Brown without two of his star performers over the last few seasons.

Former West Brom and Coventry City star Flynn was a key player in United's double promotion season, his diehard displays in the middle of the park helping secure a place in Nationwide Conference North.

But the 37-year-old is set to move south and Saturday's disappointing 4-1 defeat at home to Stalybridge Celtic looks like being his last game for the club.

Manager Rod Brown had hoped to lure Bromsgrove Rovers midfielder Wayne Dyer to the club as a replacement for Flynn but is now looking elsewhere.

"Sean's circumstances have changed," Brown said. "He is going down to Cornwall to pursue a business venture. He has done the deal and looking to move in the next couple of weeks."

And the United boss also revealed influential defender Matt Clarke was also considering his options following an approach from league rivals Hinckley United.

The former Hereford favourite was sacked by the club earlier in the season following a training ground row but returned a week later despite being stripped of the captaincy.

Midfielder Danny Scheppel has already left the Valley Stadium club to join Hednesford Town.

Dyer's decision to stay with Southern League side Bromsgrove is a severe blow for Brown particularly after another midfield target, Moor Green's John Snape, broke his toe.

One player who could be on his way to the club though is goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan.

The Newport County stopper has been on loan with Southern League outfit Chippenham Town but agreed to link up with Reds following Saturday's FA Cup clash with Worcester City.
