A SUPERB display from Redditch Ladies saw them beat Worcestershire Division One leaders Harborne 2nds 3-1.
The Bromsgrove Road side produced their best hockey of the season to claim all three points.
In a fast free-flowing game, they tore into their opponents with accurate passing which saw Emma Preston open the scoring after 15 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball after Angela Taylor had deflected a cross onto a defender's foot.
Redditch were dangerous in attack and solid in defence denying Harborne few clear-cut chances with player of the match Kirsty Stafford particularly strong and skilful.
The home side went in at the break with a slender 1-0 lead but they struck again early in the second half. Claire Steadman linked up well with Emma Manders on the right who outsprinted the defence. Her cross found Sharon Fish on the edge of the circle who in turn found Liz Thomson on the post and her first time shot hammered into the far corner.
Redditch now had the upper hand and surged forward from midfield with Jo Stafford, Lianne Cooper and Becky Southwell eager to support the strikers.
Taylor made it 3-0 and put the result beyond doubt with a sharp finish on the near post after good battling by Liz Thomson.
Harborne scored a consolation in the dying minutes from a penalty corner.
Redditch are at home on Saturday against Harborne 3rds.
