RESIDENTS claim parking problems in Headless Cross are causing accidents and upsetting other local people.

They want their own car park at the junction of Birchfield Road and Middlepiece Drive.

But they say the Corporation is wasting money on landscaping areas instead.

"When the road changes took place a lot of people were left without any parking places," said Mrs S Phillips of Birchfield Road, Headless Cross.

"Now there is often nowhere for them to park and so they have to park in roads nearby. This is upsetting the residents here."

"And one lady who has often parked in Birchfield Road has actually had two cars written off because it's such a busy main road."

Resident got up a petition asking the Corporation to build a car park on a piece of land where Middlepiece Drive joins Birchfield Road.

But they now say they have been told there is no hope of a car park after all.

A Corporation spokesman said the matter was being looked at in conjunction with the borough council.
