Football: Midland Combination

FECKENHAM manager Lee Adams has paid tribute to two of his veterans, who chose to retire - although in one case for the umpteenth time - this week.

Evergreen striker-turned sweeper Steve Fergusson's on-off retirement continued this week with the forty-something bidding farewell to Feckenham, albeit to continue for Midland Alliance outfit Stratford Town.

And left-back Mark Davis has brought the curtain down on his Saturday career.

Davis, who helped take Studley into the Midland Alliance as well as winning two Worcestershire Senior Urns with the Bees, has hung up his Feckenham boots.

"I have wished both players all the best," said Adams, "they have both been tremendous servants to this club and we will miss them.

"But of course if either of them misses the involvement too much, there is always a door open for them!"

The Millers' impressive run continued with two wins last week, although

Adams' charges found themselves trailing 2-0 to Smedley Crooke Cup underdogs Cadbury Athletic Reserves on Wednesday.

Cadbury, who play two divisions below their hosts, earned praise from Adams after his side hit back to earn a 3-2 win thanks to a Stuart Douglas brace and a Ryan Field winner.

"They were a young side with one or two first-teamers who were coming back from injury and suspension," said the Millers boss.

Massey Ferguson proved less testing in a 4-0 away league win at the weekend

which saw Field, Studley loanee Lee Ross, Scott Walsh and Kevin Leggatt on

target.
