Littleton 1, Heather Athletic 3
FOR the fourth time this season Littleton lost a home league game and again they will feel that they deserved at least a share of the points.
They played well in a game, sponsored by the Ivy Inn, that was a credit to both teams, but were unable to convert superior possession into goals.
They weren't helped by an excellent display in the visitors' goal by Tim Hoult brother of West Brom goalkeeper Russell.
Littleton made the early running and looked dangerous down the left where Matthew Edwards caused chaos with his powerful runs. A good move led to a cross being nodded down by Joe Wright to Perry Beddoes whose first time shot went over.
Then completely against the run of play, Heather scored when a delightful chip from Mark Pallet gave the onrushing Danny Edwards no chance.
This was quickly followed by a Wright drive across goal and the striker then put Beddoes through but his first time shot was narrowly off target.
Immediately on the restart the hosts almost equalised after Karl Scott was put through but his shot was blocked and Matty Staley was just wide with an overhead kick.
At the other end a 25-yard pile-driver from Francis was tipped on to the bar and over by Edwards.
The action was now thick and fast and Wright went close with a quick turn but shot just wide. However, an identical effort on the hour saw him score a glorious goal as the ball rifled past Hoult from 15 yards.
However, two minutes later, a mistake in Littleton's defence let in Gareth Mills who hit a magnificent shot from 20 yards that again left Edwards helpless.
Littleton were really put on the back foot when a player was sent off but they were desperately unlucky when a drive from Matty Edwards hit a post.
Heather, however, sealed the win with a third goal in the last minute as Littleton continued to throw men forward.
Littleton travel to Polesworth on Saturday for a 2pm start.
