IN this age of bad news, lack of trust in people, cons, muggings etc., I would like to say thank you to a few heroes I met recently.

I took my three boys into Hanbury Woods, a place that we often visit andwhich has brought us much fun and pleasure over the years. Having visited the woods two days earlier my boys were keen to go back to play on the rope swings that have been in place over the years and I am sure have brought many children great fun, and will bring great fun.

On this day my eldest son fell when swinging from a considerable height colliding with a felled tree trunk on his landing. The fall was considerable and this is where my thanks start - to the couple that were there at the time and offered to wait on the road to direct the emergency services to where we were. To the quick response of our wonderful ambulance service. For the offer of help from the doctor who works at Worcester hospital of 'an extra pair of hands.'

My other two children were distraught at the sight of their brother. They were given 'jobs to do' which helped them so much whilst I attended to Conner.

Then to the crew of the air ambulance. On their arrival it was incredible how every one worked together in the passing of information and their quick response to the situation. The gentleman's whose lawn the helicopter landed on. To the kind people who took my other children to their grandparents house enabling me to stay with Conner in his flight to the children's hospital and to the staff at both the children's hospital and the Alexandra.

Yes, in this day and age there are true heroes around us; I can't describe how big my thanks are.

At the end of the day the air ambulance stays in the air only if we donate. I have always put money in the tin and it has rewarded me ten fold. None of us know what is around the corner and my hope is you will never need it. These guys are true heroes in what they do, so even if it's a few pence please put it in that tin.

To all the people I met that day and I am so sorry I don't know your names but I take my hat off to you all. This seems so inadequate but the feelings behind it are not. Thank you!
