fResh from a triumphant run in London early in 2005, Kneehigh Theatre brings passionate love story Tristan and Yseult to the Birmingham Rep this month.

The epic love story, based on an age old tale from Cornwall, charts the story of war embattled King Mark falling in love with his the same woman as his trusted aide, Tristan.

The tale is a heady mix of battle, love potions, voyages and intrigue to keep the most demanding of audiences gripped.

Kneehigh's Tristan and Yseult is an intoxicating letter to love, a tender unravelling of love in all its beautiful and painful forms.

Kneehigh's version of Tristan and Yseult is seen through the eyes of a chorus of lovespotters, members of the Club of the Unloved.

An international cast is accompanied by a live band and recorded soundtrack, which features a combination of original material and haunting Celtic tunes, alongside Nick Cave and hair-raising Wagner.

The production is directed by Kneehigh's artistic director Emma Rice.

Based in Cornwall, Kneehigh has built a reputation for creating vigorous and popular theatre for audiences throughout the UK and beyond since 1980.

Tristan and Yseult runs from November 15 to 19, with tickets costing between £12 and £20.
