SIR I was so interested in Mike Layland's memories recounted to the Worcester News as I can relate to all his recollections, especially Sammies as I lived opposite to this lovely school and have had a most enjoyable childhood there. Other things I can recall is the price of everything.
A fish-and-chip supper was 2 pence old money; it was one penny for a bus ride, a lovely joint of meat for 50 pence and a beautiful arrangements of sweets for a penny.
As I am a 79-year-old widow, I tend to live on my memories of the good old days.
MRS M CALE,
Worcester.
