YOUNGSTERS are making life unbearable for residents on a Bromsgrove housing estate by playing on a builders' large storage container.
But a district councillor's swift intervention should soon see the problem solved.
People living near the container, situated on the car park of the King George playing field in Sidemoor, say they are fed up and want it moved.
They claim youngsters climb on the container and play ball against it until late at night and when residents have dared to protest they have been confronted by hostility and aggression.
In desperation they took their complaints to their Labour ward councillor, Athol Deakin. He said the container is being used as a storage facility, while contractors employed by Bromsgrove District Housing Trust carry out improvements to local homes.
Cllr Deakin said: "I have had many complaints from people living in the vicinity of the container who claim it is a magnet for mayhem and want it moved away from their homes. The builders have got to store materials somewhere, but to have it here for any length of time is to invite upsetting what is a usually a peaceful and respectful area."
However, yesterday (Tuesday) BDHT's Paul Lowe was able to give harassed residents some good news.
He said following representations from Cllr Deakin on Friday the Trust met contractors, who incidentally had been authorised to site the container in the car park, and it has now been agreed to move it. Contractors are installing several hundred new kitchens and bathrooms in homes across the estate as part of a huge £49m improvements scheme.
