PETE Bond, captain of Wyre Piddle Cricket Club since 1993, has stepped down after another successful season in charge.
At the club's annual dinner, the 70-year-old was presented with a club cap and invited to become the inaugural president.
Bond has single-handedly steered the Lower Moor based club to 12 years of non-league cricket and built up a full fixture list against local opposition, including the annual series against Hill and Moor, which was again won by Wyre Piddle last summer.
The retiring skipper has led by example with his enthusiasm, both on and off the pitch and his new role as president will ensure that he continues to be a part of the club that he created.
