A CONCERT of nostalgic 1940s music will be held as part of the Remembrance Day events in Studley on Saturday.

The village hall in High Street will host the concert featuring a performance by Arrow Valley Brass Band from 7.30pm.

Dennis Charlton will also share his memories of the era.

Village hall committee spokesman Hazel Wright said: "This concert has been organised in gratitude for all the people in Studley who gave their lives in the wars and a tribute to those still with us."

She added: "There will be lots of wonderful music from that era, which will really lift the spirits."

Tickets, priced £8, are available from the village hall office.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Poppy Appeal.

On Remembrance Sunday, the hall will host a special service for residents starting at 10.45pm.

The names of all the villagers who gave their lives during the wars will be read out.

"We want to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice these people made so that we can be free," said Mrs Wright.

"The village hall committee is really proud to be putting on this event."
