A REDDITCH charity for the homless is making safety the priority and asking for donations of fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

Redditch Nightstop, which provides emergency accommodation for young homeless people, is looking for town businesses and groups to donate the much-needed safety equipment.

The equipment will then be given to young people in their own tenancies.

Nightstop spokeswoman Gillian Groom said: "Safety is low on the priority of our clients as they have limited incomes. If any group or business would be able to donate finances or safety equipment for us to distribute we would be very grateful."

The Ecumenical Centre based charity has enjoyed a busy couple of months, with its annual sleepover raising more than £1,000.

A further £304 was raised when the Arrow Vale Singers performed at St Peter's Church in Ipsley last month.
