A MASKED ball drew hundreds of people through the doors of Amber Caf Bar in Evesham to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.

More than 700 people donned glamorous masks and costumes for the event at the High Street venue.

Emily Sinclair, one of the organisers said: "Lots of people had put a huge effort into their costumes and masks, they were really amazing.

"The place rocked and we want to say a huge thanks to everyone who came and helped raise £850."

Hospice community fund-raiser Alison Weston said: "It was fantastic to raise such a big sum of money in just one night. We are thrilled so many people took the chance to have a great night out and raise much-needed cash to help us care for our patients and families."

St Richard's is currently based at Rose Hill, Worcester and provides care for patients with cancer and long-term illnesses and support for their families.

Building work is underway on the new hospice near County Hall, Spetchley and campaigners are working to raise the final £250,000 needed to complete the Building Beds Together campaign.
