SIR - In his recent letter about car parks, Councillor Bob Peachey writes about "...the environmental damage that is caused by CO2 emissions and other pollutants, and the traffic jams that are created morning and evening, plus the congestion at other times."
Didn't Labour cause all that traffic, and pollution, with their stark raving mad housing development strategy? Of course they did; so isn't it a bit late in the day for Councillor Peachey to be spouting crocodile tears over the traffic and pollution that Labour's lunacy has brought to our city?
Isn't Labour to build millions more houses across our nation? How come Councillor Peachey isn't objecting to that?
If Councillor Peachey were to actually talk to his constituents in Newtown and Ronkswood wouldn't he find them apoplectic with rage over the new W buses, because they can't use them, and they can no longer easily use their closest supermarket, which is less than a mile from their homes?
How can that spectacular piece of stupidity encourage the use of public transport?
It's wrong to hide our Cathedral with a car park, but let's not object for reasons of political advantage, as perhaps Councillor Peachey does.
N TAYLOR,
Worcester.
