A GROUP of actors and musicians are disappointed but not disheartened after being beaten to a £50,000 lottery grant by a children's football team.
Worcester Operatic And Dramatic Society were up for one of four lots of £50,000 in a TV lottery vote being run all this week.
In Wednesday night's episode, viewers were asked to choose between the popular amateur dramatics group and Staffordshire based Brocton Football Club, which wanted new junior pitches and mobile changing rooms.
Members had their fingers crossed as they tuned into ITV Central news at 6pm last night for the results, but they found they had been pipped to the post.
Bruce Wyatt, acting secretary for WODS, said: "I'm disappointed obviously but I just want to thank everybody who did vote for us. We couldn't survive without grants like these and we won't give up on getting funding to improve our facilities."
The money was going to be used to extend the building's entrance lobby to include a disabled toilet and to fit a ramp and some handrails for less able-bodied members and visitors.
