FOLLOWING the success of Corse Parish Council in the Calor Village of the Year competition and the chairman Coun Pat Lewis being selected as villager of the year for the Forest of Dean area, the chairman thanked members for their support and wished to donate her prize of £500 to be distributed between Corse Church PCC and the playing fields and village hall committees.
Signposting in the village was again discussed in the light of concerns expressed by Staunton Parish Council but members did not consider it the council's responsibility to finance movement of signs. The position will be kept under review.
The council is pleased to see a start being made in Orridge Street and also on the A417 Gloucester Road, where speed restrictions will shortly be introduced as part of the county council's initiative to improve road safety on the Gloucester to Ledbury Road between Maisemore and Bromesberrow.
The clerk, Norman Davis was pleased to confirm that the annual accounts for 2004 had been approved by the external auditor.
A parishioner referred to problems created by parked vehicles in Compton Close and concern was expressed regarding the ability of the emergency services to reach premises at the end of the road should the need occur. It was agreed the clerk should contact the police regarding the safety issues raised.
