The October meeting of Powick Guild coincided with the vestments' exhibition at Powick Church. Thea Wild explained how the clerical robes evolved to the present day rituals. There were many visitors admiring various items of church line, some old and some more recent that had been worked by local parishioners. The members and visitors were shown the new facilities and offered a cup of tea. The next Guild meeting will be on Tuesday (November 8) when Harold Hyatt will be giving garden tips.
Powick Church bellringers would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to see how the church bells are rung and may be interested in joining the band of local ringers. There are six bells which are relatively heavy so anyone over 12 years would be able to ring. Some tuition would be available. The ringers meet on Wednesdays, from 7.30pm till 9pm, for practice. There are usually ringers at 10.15am for the 11am service on Sundays and for weddings. For details ring Mary Ward on (01905) 830285 or Roger Gurney on (01905) 830756.
