AFTER his son Rory was diagnosed with cancer, Bob Morrison was moved to organise a charity event.
Colwall Rotary Club member Mr Morrison presented Rory with £2,500 for the Lymphoma Association at a club event last week.
The cash was raised at the Rotary Club's village funday, which Mr Morrison, from Malvern, agreed to organise if most of the proceeds went to the lymphoma charity.
At the club's Colwall Players evening last week, he thanked the club and village.
"I couldn't have raised the money without them," he said.
Rory, a BBC Radio 4 announcer, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lym-phoma, cancer of the lymphatic system, in June 2004.
After a course of chemo-therapy and a year off work, he is now in good health, although lymphoma is an incurable type of cancer, which will have to be managed for the rest of his life.
The former Grove, Chase and Malvern College pupil has considerably improved since the fun day in May, which he attended in a wheelchair because the condition damaged his nerve endings.
"People who were there gave generously and allowed us to raise a fantastic sum of money," he said.
Both Mr Morrison and Rory plan to continue fundraising for the Lymphoma Association, which supports people with the condition and is researching a cure for it. To make a donation, call 01296 619419.
