Kidderminster II 1, Evesham II 1
EVESHAM struggled at first to establish themselves on a fast and uneven Astroturf surface as Kidderminster used their long ball tactics to good effect.
After 20 minutes the hosts took the lead with an unstoppable shot from the top of the D.
Evesham responded promptly and levelled following a well-worked short corner routine when Mark Payne slipped the ball to Jon Grumble who crossed to Matt Grumble to convert from close-range.
The suffering Payne then missed a glorious opportunity for Evesham to take the lead when, with the goalkeeper totally stranded, he put the ball wide.
The second half saw the defence of Rich Haines, Frank Lake, Roger Hemming and Mark Dufty establish their authority but only two excellent saves from Marcus Humpston kept the scores level.
Rob Leighton and Dave Turner combined well in the centre of midfield and, with the support of Paul Miller's skillful stick work, Evesham became a unit again.
They created a number of good opportunities in the second period but they were thwarted by the Kidderminster keeper.
They will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run at home to Old Wulfs on Saturday (3pm).
