AN angry Kidderminster woman has complained that fireworks being set off near her home at all hours "are getting out of hand".
Ann Adamson, of Stourbridge Road, said she hears fireworks on and off throughout the year but feels it has become worse in the past few weeks.
She explained they had been a nuisance for several years and last November she wrote to the Prime Minister at Downing Street with her complaints.
Last weekend, she heard fireworks between midnight and 2am on Friday, during the day on Saturday and between midnight on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.
She said: "This last few weeks it has been getting out of hand. I think they know they can get away with it. Some nights it is quiet but other nights it is one after another."
"It frightens animals and people. My one cat hides under the bed and will not come out. I've been woken up by them in the middle of the night. It's nerve-wracking."
Mrs Adamson, who lives with her mother and sister, said some of them sounded like "bombs" and came from the direction of Hurcott Road, which is to the rear of her house, adding: "These bomb-type bangers are awful. They are so loud. It feels likes it's in your back room, it's so close."
The frustrated resident said she was not against people enjoying fireworks, adding: "I love fireworks if they are part of organised displays but these are a nuisance."
Lynne Masters, spokeswoman for West Mercia Constabulary, said the police had not received any complaints about fireworks from the Stourbridge Road area.
She added: "We urge people to report it if they are having any problems with fireworks going off late at night or if there is any other anti-social behaviour with fireworks going on.
"We urge people to be considerate and let fireworks off as early in the evening as they can and not to let fireworks off in the early hours of the morning, which is classed as anti-social behaviour."
