FETE CASH: The Village of the Year Fete raised £5,664 and the fete liaison committee has now decided how these funds will be distributed.
At a social evening in the village hall on Friday, November 11, cheques will be presented to 12 village organisations, each organisation will receive £250 each and the balance of £2,707 will go to the village hall to be earmarked for future improvements for the benefit of the community.
VILLAGE HALL: The annual meeting of the village hall management committee will be in the hall at 8pm on Wednesday, November 23. The AGM will be preceded at 7.30pm by a committee meeting.
SNOOKER CLUB: The annual meeting of the snooker club will be in the snooker room at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 16.
SENIOR CITIZENS' CHRISTMAS LUNCH: The annual lunch provided by the WI will be held on December 3 at 12.30pm in the village hall. All senior citizen residents of the village are invited.
HARVEST SUPPER: After the harvest supper recently held, £180 has been sent to the Jedidiah House for Congo Street Children.
WILLERSEY TODDLERS: In support of the Macmillan coffee morning, £163 was raised.
PRIMARY SCHOOL: It has been announced that Andy Ferguson, acting headmaster, has been appointed head teacher.
ST PETER'S: The Christmas bazaar will this year be held at the village hall on Saturday, November 19 at 2.30pm. Gifts may be collected or delivered to the hall on the day. Inquiries: 853259. The Remembrance Service will be held at St Peter's on Sunday, November 13 at 10.30am.
MUNCH BRUNCH: The next lunch will be at the Methodist Church Room on Wednesday, November 16 at 12.30pm. Inquiries: Elizabeth Ingles on 853400.
CAROLS FOR ALL: Will be held in the village hall on Sunday, December 18 at 3pm. All are invited and any offers of help in taking part should be made to David Ingles on 853400.
WEDNESDAY CLUB: During October three more talks have been enjoyed by members. David Howe gave a talk on various aspects of the English Language, the number of words in the language and the Oxford Dictionary. June Firkins gave a talk on London Stores and their history. She showed many slides of early London. Last week, the speaker, Tom Pim, spoke on Life in Dr Barnardos. At the next meeting next Wednesday, members will hear Memoirs of Bygone Days contributed by some of the members.
