A TOTAL of 78 riders from across the country descended on Stourport for the first Trailquest Mountain Bike Orienteering event in North Worcesterhire.
Although the weather on the day was fine and sunny, the trails and challenging from rain earlier in the week.
The main event was a five-hour mountain bike orienteering event on bridle paths, forest tracks, public roads and byways.
Results: 1 Henry Syska (Cumbria) 417 points out of a possible 600, 2 Neville Baker (Oxford) 410, Gareth Buffett (Gwent) 389.
A total of 28 riders competed in the two-hour taster event which was won by Coventry's Kevan Baker.
Trailquest is orienteering with a difference as competitors travel by mountain bike rather than on foot.
A three-hour ride will be held in North Worcestershire on March 12 next year as part of a Midlands Winter Series of nine events. For more information visit www.trailquest.co.uk
