Stourport

ANDY Watson experienced a bitter-sweet afternoon for Stourport mens fourths as he hit a hat-trick before getting sent-off in the 4-2 win at Edgbaston.

Mike Shaw was also on target in the victory that catapults Stourport to the top of the table. They host Shrewsbury fourths at 1pm on Saturday.

Stourport mens first are hoping to force their way among the elite this weekend after giving the early-pacesetters a run for their money.

They have started the season with a win and draw and two defeats - but the losses have come against the division's top two.

And skipper Phil Lashford believes the time has come for his team to kick on when they visit fellow mid-table side Sheffield at 2pm on Sunday.

He said: "The two games we've lost have been against top of the league and we've come of the pitch in both games thinking we could've done better and deserved more.

"If that is the standard at the top then we've got to believe we're good enough to challenge and we'll go to Sheffield looking to win."

Their most recent setback came the weekend before last when they went down 2-1 at home to Brooklands despite Imran Yousaf's goal.

Stourport hope the return of Peter Gibbons up front after a short absence will give them a goals boost on Sunday.

l The seconds visit West Bridgford on Saturday trying to build on last weekend's 4-2 home victory over Birmingham University.

Noel Magnay scored his first goal for the club, while Dave Knott, Dave Westhead and Phil Baldwin were also on target.

l A collapse from the thirds saw them let a 2-0 half time lead slip to draw 3-3 at Birmingham University.

Max Totney, Mark McKinnon and Dan Packwood were on target for the thirds who host West Bridgford at 11.30am on Saturday.

l Stourport fifths are also flying high after winning a top-of-the-table Central West Midlands Premier clash with Leek.

Robin Conway and Neil Thomas scored in the victory that prolongs their 100 per cent start. They visit Cannock sixths on Saturday.

l The sixths hit their hosts Kings Heath for six with David Shepperd (2), Neil Stone (2), Robert Claris and Charlie Smith scoring in a 6-0 away win. They host Warwick fourths at 2.30pm on Saturday.

l Stourport sevenths are away this weekend after last Saturday's home match was called off when Kings Heath failed to raise a team.

Kidderminster

KIDDERMINSTER men's firsts produced a battling display to win 3-2 at Old Halesonians despite only fielding nine players.

Late drop-outs and injuries meant Kidderminster had just eight outfield players, but captain Chris Pocknell's men welcomed Martin Roberts's return in goal.

Joe Sorrel was the hero with a brace while Andy Pocknell's strike three minutes from time proved crucial, as did some super saves from Roberts. They host Evesham at 1.30pm on Saturday.

l The seconds were held to a 1-1 draw by Evesham after taking the lead with a cracking goal from Chris Page.

Despite impressive displays from Tom Eacles, Rupert Upson and Andy Kimberlin they were unable to clinch a win.

Phil Williams was man of the match for the seconds who visit Bromsgrove on Saturday.

l Kidderminster thirds cemented their place in the top two by prolonging their 100 per cent home record against Evesham.

Tom Roberts's strike just after half-time was enough to give them a 1-0 win with Daniel Griffiths the man of the match.

l Both sides were guilty of throwing away leads as Kiddermister fourths played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at Yardley.

Adam Rowe grabbed a double with man of the match Andy Griffiths, and Tim Feline also on the mark in the topsyturvy encounter. They host Stafford on Saturday.

Chaddesley Corbett

CHADDESLEY Corbett bid to end a dismal run of four successive defeats when they host Barlaston at 11am on Saturday.

Their latest setback in West Midlands Division Two was a 4-1 reverse at Atherstone.

Their only highlight was when Sam Boden intercepted Andy Green's mishit shot to score.

Matt Boden should return to the attack this weekend.
