CHADDESLEY Corbett reached the quarter-finals of the Worcestershire Junior Cup by inflicting the first defeat of the season, on Stratford Alliance outfit Broadway United 4-3.
Broadway had built up a 2-0 lead by half-way through the first half, while Chaddesley had missed three chances.
However, Jon Prichard, on his full debut for Chaddesley, scored two excellent goals to level the score shortly before half time.
A Tony Vale penalty and a goal from Marvin Whitter gave Chaddesley a 4-2 lead, but Broadway scored again to make an exciting end period.
Despite carrying a knock, midfielder James Dale gave a very energetic performance, but was worried about missed chances. He said: "We could have, and should have, reached double figures. Their goalkeeper made several great saves."
He said that Broadway could have snatched victory, but for the great determination of defender Steve Meredith.
Chaddesley have signed Shifnal-based midfielder Richard Maiden, and coach Neil Lucas said: "We are also looking at another player, and are hopeful of signing him. We have a great spirit here at the club now."
Chaddesley have a deserved break on Saturday, after one defeat in 10 matches. Their next match will be at Penkridge Town, kick-off 2.15pm.
