BURGLARS caused about £1,110 in damage when they dropped through a BP garage roof, smashing a stand of alcohol on the way.
The break-in was at the garage in Broadway Road, Evesham, early last Sunday. The thieves removed a roofing panel and forced open a locked cigarette cabinet. Cigarettes and tobacco were stolen as well as about £300 in cash.
Investigating officer PC Adrian Bean said: "They dropped through the skylight down into the shop floor, smashing a set of display shelves containing alcohol.
"The incident caused distress to the garage staff, who were amazed that thieves would go to such lengths."
PC Bean would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 2am and 6am on October 30 or who may since have been offered cheap tobacco or cigarettes. He can be contacted on 08457 444 888.
