PLANS for a gipsy site in a former coal yard in Bredon have been thrown out by councillors.
Tom Cooper wanted to put two static caravans on the site, one for himself and his partner and child and one for his widowed mother. He also wanted to house a touring caravan which he would use when working out of the area.
More than 40 villagers, and local business bosses, opposed the plans, which were discussed by Wychavon District Council's planning committee last Thursday. Members went against officers' recommendations and turned down the application stating three main reasons.
They were concerned about the loss of employment on the site, lack of visibility at the access and traffic using the public right of way.
Cllr Adrian Hardman, ward member for Bredon, said afterwards: "I'm pleased with the decision and that the committee saw it my way. There's the question of the highway which the applicant is unable to resolve because he doesn't own the land in the easterly direction."
