EVESHAM doctors will soon be moving to a temporary surgery so that work can begin on a new health centre in the town.
This follows a decision by members of Wychavon District Council's executive board on Tuesday when councillors decided to move the town's health improvement plans forward as soon as possible.
Merstow Green Health Centre will move to council land at the Abbey Road depot so that developers Medcentre plc can begin work on the new permanent surgery at Merstow Green.
Cllr Judy Pearce, the district council's executive board member for health and housing, said: "We want to see health improvement plans in Evesham move as fast as possible and are doing everything we can to facilitate them.
"We hope the PCT and those involved in the decisions relating to a new health centre for the town will, for the sake of local patients, be able to move this project forward into reality after much delay."
