WITH both Stourport and Chaddesley entering their top-of-the-table North Mids South Two clash unbeaten something had to give.
And it did as visiting Stourport ran out 18-8 winners to continue their 100 per cent record and protect their position at the summit.
Realising the importance of the fixture, neither of the teams tried anything too adventurous in the first half.
Chaddesley opened the scoring with a penalty but Stourport soon equalised with a well struck goal by outside half Rob Humphries.
As half time approached it was Chaddesley who broke the deadlock again with a well worked try to lead 8-3 at the break.
The second half was a similar affair with the visitors making the most of their chances.
Humphries reduced the deficit by converting his second penalty before Stourport took the lead for the first time with a well worked try from Adam Wyton.
Chaddesley pressed forward, in search of an instant response before determined play by Anton Cronje resulted in a try and a Humphries conversion that clinched victory for Stourport.
Stourport seconds suffered a narrow 15-12 home defeat to Dudley Wasps in the merit table with Owain Butler and John Connelly scoring their tries.
