Tenbury 36 pts Woodrush 22

AFTER making for them, an unusually quick impact on the game, Tenbury went on to make it three wins on the trot in North Midlands (South) One, lifting them to joint second place in the table behind Upton-on-Severn.

The usual pattern to games this season has seen the home side having to haul themselves back into contention after conceding points during a slow start. None of that on Saturday, Woodrush kicked directly into touch from the kick-off, and from the resulting scrum on the halfway line they spun the ball out wide for Richard Wozencroft to touch down.

From the restart Tenbury regained possession and a series of forward drives finished with Will Morgan barging over for the second try inside three minutes. Andy Yeomans converted one to make the score 12-0. It couldn't carry on and Woodrush responded with a penalty and unconverted try to reduce the deficit to two points.

The home side bounced back to run in four more tries, with the visitors adding two to their tally, the one a gifted interception on the halfway line.

Will Morgan grabbed his second of the day when he rounded off a spell of forward pressure on the visitor's line with a touchdown, whilst Charlie Ferneyhough gained possession on the 22 and jinxed over for the fourth.

Graham Evans was involved in the last two scores, kicking cross-field to put Sam Carter in the clear for the next, and then he picked up close to the line and drove over for the score he has been threatening for the last few games.

Andy Yeomans added the extra points for two of the four tries to complete the scoring.
