WOMAN TO WOMAN
WITH the nights starting to draw in and festive parties on the horizon, women are starting to look out for the latest trends in winter fashions.
Fashion boutique owner and buyer Jackie Allen of The B's Knees offers the following advice:
Tweed - This key trend rears its head again this year but be careful not to overdo this look as it can be more Miss Marple than country chic. Tartan will also make an appearance so Scots can show off their historical roots.
Military/nautical coats - Again a popular favourite. This is a very smart look but looks equally cool when teamed with drainpipe jeans and long boots.
Woolly Wonderland - Knits feature heavily from chunky to fine knit belted styles. Knitted boleros and shrugs are a definite must-have. These should be worn short over a vest or top and can be tied under the bust.
Velvet - This luxurious fabric is always reminiscent of the winter season so cuddle up with sumptuous coats, skirts and trousers in midnight blue, gold, dusky pink and chocolate.
Victoriana - Intricate details such as beading and embroidery give this trend a distinctively regal look. Blouses should be buttoned to the neck and worn in sheer or lace fabrics. Skirts are long and fitted.
Sheepskin - A great buy for the British climate during the winter months. Cosy belted coats and gilets will keep the warmth in.
Accessories - Boots should be worn long and feature ribbon tie details, hand bags feature studding and wide belts give a nipped-in waist.
