PHOTOS of some of Worcestershire's best landscapes feature in a Kidderminster photographer's new book.

The latest offering from Van Greaves is called Moods of Worcestershire and Elgar Country and contains more than 100 photos including shots of Kingsford Country Park, Harvington Hall and Chaddesley Woods.

He said most of them had been taken during the past two years, adding: "I'm very pleased with the publication. I had full control over what went in the book."

The 57-year-old, who lives in Offmore, said it was "difficult" to decide what photos to include, adding: "I wanted a spectrum of Worcestershire's best landscapes and shots of arboretums like Bodenham and shots of specialist interests like the Severn Valley Railway. I wanted, also, pictures of towns and villages or parts of villages that said something about the county."

Also included in the book are photos of gardens and stately homes throughout the county as well as the River Severn.

The photographer discovered places in the county he did not know existed, while working on the book, including Salwarpe Court. He said: "It is in a hamlet out of Droitwich. It's beautiful."

It is one of two books Mr Greaves has had published at the same time, as Moods of Shropshire and The Marches is also available. He is now working on two further projects for which he is collecting photos of Staffordshire and Warwickshire.

Mr Greaves became a full-time photographer in 1988 and has been commissioned to do work for Wyre Forest Tourism.
