Hockey: Ladies
Tenbury 2 Redditch 0
A COMBINATION of excellent goalkeeping and missed chances saw Redditch go down at Tenbury.
The first half was a bizarre affair with Redditch playing some of their best build-up hockey of the season and yet finding themselves 2-0 down at the break.
They started on the offensive and passed the ball effectively through midfield with player of the match Becky Southwell pulling the strings, ably assisted by the hard-working Lianne Cooper.
Although Tenbury were put under pressure, Redditch couldn't break the deadlock and they were then rocked when Tenbury scored against the run of play.
Taylor had the chance to level the scores but had her penalty flick saved by the keeper before the lively Emma Preston went close when she rounded the keeper only to push her shot just wide.
Redditch had a number of other chances but either the final pass was just lacking or shots went wide.
Tenbury went 2-0 up from a well-worked penalty corner.
The second half was more even but Tenbury's keeper was again in fine form to deny Redditch, making at least two excellent saves.
The Bromsgrove Road side play host to Harborne 2nds on Saturday (3pm).

Redditch maintained their unbeaten run in Worcestershire League Division Three with a tremendous display against a strong Tenbury side.
There was little to choose between the sides in the first half with the home side failing to turn possession into goals.
Redditch turned things around in the second half and converted their chances.
Becky Matthews opened the scoring with a tap in from close range before Tenbury equalised with a tidy break away goal shortly after.
But this spurred the home side on and Emma Allsop fired Redditch into the lead with a fierce short corner strike.
Allsop then struck a third before Becci Butler, making her debut, completed the scoring from a rebound.
