ALBERT Styler did not appear to answer a charge of being drunk in charge of a bicycle at Hunt End on October 21.
Police Sergeant Iles said defendant, who was drunk, staggered and fell on a heap of stones, with the bicycle on top of him.
Witness assisted him up and told him he was drunk, and defendant replied: "No, I'm alright."
He was about to wheel his bicycle when a horse and cart came along, and had witness not taken hold of him he would have been under the wheels.
As it was the wheel of the cart caught hold of the bicycle, and smashed it.
Fined 5s and 5s 6d costs, in default seven days.
