DROITWICH'S Ashes hero Ashley Giles bowed out of England's three-day match against a Patron's XI on Tuesday in Pakistan.
The Warwickshire spinner did not bowl at all in Rawalpindi because of a stomach complaint, which forced him to come off the field.
The illness was a blow for England as Giles had proved to be effective with the bat.
England's batsmen had misfired, with Andy Strauss (5), captain Michael Vaughan (9) and Ian Bell (2) all out cheaply.
Marcus Trescothick saved England from embarrassment by hitting 124. Giles - who hit 30 off 50 balls as England made 256, backed him up. In the second day England bowled the Patron's XI out for 211. By the end of the second day England were restricted to 39-6.
